So I suppose to have an interview today for a job that I sorta hope i do and do not get. I want to stay on unemployment for a while, but it pays really well. But the guy rescheduled it till tomorrow.

I went to $10 Tuesday at Gameworks. When I got there they had a sign that read $12, or $10 with membership. Well, they switched over to a different card system,a and the cards cost $2. They are plastic credit card type, not the crappy paper ones they had before. And if you register the card online you get $10 on it, and discounts on the games. Plus if you lose you card they'll transfer your balance to a new card. And you can check the balance online also. So I think it's pretty cool.
Well I played Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike most of the time. I'm getting much better at it, and only got beat a few times during the night. But then Brandy called..

So the water pump went out on our car. Luckily Brandy was one her way to work, and got the car there before it died. The belt snapped, which meant the alternator wasn't working. Gotta fix it on Thursday.

I had to leave Gameworks at like 6, and go pick her up. Dropped her off at home and went back to gameworks for about 45min. Which I was undefeated during on 3rd strike. My Makoto is getting really good. Afterwards I was walking home and outside Champs or some restaurant these 4 guys were standing. After I walked by one of them yelled "Jihad!". I stopped and turned. Went back and had a 'conversation' with the fine gentlemen. I'll just say I'm lucky I didn't get my ass beat.

A change of events [07 Nov 2007|05:14pm]

[ music | Saul Williams - Sunday Bloody Sunday ]

So we finally have Internet again. I was dumb and waited until the day we moved to get the net setup. But now we are away from Comcast. We are getting 7m/512k for $30 a month, where we were getting 4m/384 for $48 a month with comcast.

So I got laid-off from work. 2 months early. They fired about 60 people. They called me about an hour after I signed our new lease.

We moved downtown. Today I walked over to Gameworks to see if they had anything new. A guy was playing SF3: 3rd Strike and asked if I wanted to play, as it was on free play. I ended up playing it for 2 hours before they figured out it was on free play. They have the new 2Spicey game. I want to go to $10 Tuesday soon.

A friend of mine got VF5 for the X360 and 2 joysticks. It's sooo good.

I beat Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 yesterday. The orange box is the best value in gaming, ever.

The new Saul Williams album is wonderful. He's cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday destroys U2, not that is a hard thing to do. I paid $5 for the FLAC version, which i immediatley converted to Vorbis. First album I've bought in about 3 years, and before that it had been over 2 years. I would have bought the Radiohead album if it was in FLAC.

Oil at $100 a barrel next week, you heard it here first. I didn't expect this until the end of 2008 at the earlist.

All cars must die [11 Sep 2007|01:24am]
[ mood | aggravated ]
[ music | Modest Mouse - 3rd Planet ]

So this is going to be about why I hate cars.

Two weeks ago I was downtown and I hopped into my car to go home and tried to start the engine. It almost turned over, and I heard a load metal sound, like something metal broke. I tried a few more times. nothing what so ever. So I had a friend come jump th car thinking it could be the battery or something. nadda. So I had it towed to our apartment.

The Next weekend I bought a started in an attempt to install it. I didn't get it done because I thought you had to remove the cross support bar to get the starter out. Today I learnt you did not. So Today I get the old starter out, installed the new one. And tried to start it. Nothing. Now a piece did break off the old starter. So it might have damaged the engine. I don't know. But it took about 6 hours today of working on it and it still doesn't work. It could be something simple I didn't do right, but i don't see what it could be.

So after 6 hours under a car, getting covered in dirt, grease, and oil. Still the car doesn't run. And we really cannot afford to get a new car. So I just checked IndyGo and it would take me 1h45min to get to work from my house, it takes me under 20min now. Fuck.

Anyone know of a mechanic shop that isn't evil?

Oh. My Icon is Richard Dawkins. and the Science FTW stands for "For the Win" not Fuck the World. Sorry, I'm to much of a geek to think that people wouldn't get that.

GenCon '07 [20 Aug 2007|02:27pm]
[ music | Underworld - Born Slippy Nuxx (Live) ]

I only got to go to GenCon for about 1.5 hours this year because I had to work. And once again I didn't pay for it. The best things in life are free.

So this year they expanded the electronic games area. In years past they just had e-games in vendor booths scattered throughout the show floor. But now all e-games are in one big area, and they added something like 40k feet to make room for it. So now I'll just run through the games that were there.

EA had Crysis running on top of the line Dell XPS systems hooked to Dell 24" monitors. And it was absolutely stunning. I've seen the videos and screen shots, but nothing compares to actually playing the game on that machine. It's the best looking game I've ever seen. And really fun to boot.
EA was also showing off the new Sims 2 expansion pack on top of the line XPS laptops. I didn't care.

Blizzard had Starcraft 2 there. This was running on dell 20" monitors and each station had a set of headphones so you could actually hear the game. I only played it for about 5min because this is what most people were waiting on. It seemed to be Starcraft in 3D. I'll get it at launch.
They also had the new WoW expansion, something King or whatnot. I didn't play it.

Some company had a MMO FPS game hooked up to a giant 47 1080p TV, it looked really pretty. But only had one running so I didn't play it.

Atari had the Witcher, D&D tactics for PSP, and the new Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion. I didn't play any of these. But I watched them demo the Witcher, which looked really fun.

Sony had Eye of Judgment for the PS3. Wizards of the Coast is with them on this. OK. SO I need a $600 PS3, a Eye of Judgment pack that will come with the Playstation EYE camera, which the sony rep didn't know how much was gonna cost. And i have to buy cards in booster packs. RIGHT, Sony am Doomed.
This was the biggest waste of time for me. The rep was really proud of how you can hold the creature in the palm of you hand, and sorta wave you hand and it moves. I watched a bunch of people playing this. It would take FOREVER just to get thru a turn. You have to lay down the cards, and watch a little animation, then they battle scenes take for ever. WTF? TCG's are about fast games that you can play anywhere. If it takes 30min to get thru a match and not much happens, you need to rethink your game. This was also the ONLY PS3 there, everything else was mostly PC, some X360, and I saw one Wii.

NCSoft had a booth, but since all they make are MMO games I didn't bother.

There were other companies there but nothing interesting. also last year they had a area to play games for tournaments and such, and it would cost, this year it was all free. But they closed it right as I made it over there.

On the regular games front WizKids had a new Starwars Pocketmodel TCG which is a starwars version of Pirates of the Spanish Main. But it seemed to have less strategy. Pocketmodel TCG is a good name for this type of game. Pirates now has an official Pirates of the Caribbean expansion. I can't believe it took em this long to get Disney to agree to it.

Wizards of the Cost had a huge booth like always. They announced D&D 4th Edition, to come next year. And from what I've heard it's all good stuff.

I had planned on going all 4 days this year. But with work I couldn't do it. Hopefully next year.

Gardens and Community [22 Apr 2007|11:12pm]
Today Gwen, Scott, August, and I went down to my parents place to plant our garden. Brandy couldn't make it because she was visiting her mother, and she was sorely missed.

Like Scott said everything seems to have went very smoothly, and a good time was had by all. My parents wern't too crazy or embarrassing, and i got a lot of Vitamin D. And my Uncle's auto-tiller is amazing. Fuck a digging stick.

I installed Ubuntu GNU/Linux 7.04. Well, my friend helped the first time, but i didn't need it, and then we did something to the xserver and it wouldn't boot, so I had to reinstall all on my own. Now it's running really great, other then the audio popping under VLC (and under no other program). And, I'll say it's almost a Windows replacement for most people. But a few things hold it back. One my videocard, which is over 4 years old, was not detected. Which wasn't a big deal for me because I know how to config the xconf file, but someone straight out of windows would be doomed.  Another was my mouse, which is 8 years old, didn't have all 5 buttons enabled. But I'm having a blast hacking away at it.

I just orderd a new raw food book. It's probably a really stupid time to try to go raw again, with food prices going up, and shit. And it's a diet that pretty much requires an industrial transportation network. Unless you lived close to the equator maybe. But I want to give it another shot, which I can afford to do right this time.

So my summer goals are as follows:

1.) Garden (started)
2.) Take trip with brandy to NC and have a splendid time. (Mid summer)
3.) Get fit enough to ride my bike to work. 23 miles one way. Some of it on some really busy highways. (Late summer / early fall)
3.) Get rid of Windows completely. (started)
4.) Learn gun safety. Become comfortable with guns. Acquire a gun. (Not necessarily in that order)
5.) Become a better partner to Brandy. (Now)

Hey Mr. Sandman [01 Apr 2007|08:47am]

[ music | Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Motherfucker=Redeemer (Part One) ]

I don't know where this is gonna go, so I'm sorry.

So I'm never eating at Bazbeux Pizza again. About a year ago i believe, I got a pizza from them, i usually get the same thing each time. Senza plus artichoke. Well I used to get it on wheat crust, and then one time after eating there, I couldn't sleep. I would be tired as shit, and when i would lay down, i could not fall asleep. So after the 2nd time this happened i figured it was the pizza, so the next time I got the white crust, and i was fine. Today we ate there and I got the same thing I've been getting, but I can't sleep, and i feel the same as I did before. I don't know if maybe I'm allergic to something in the crust, or sauce. All I know is I cannot sleep.

So i just got up from laying down for about an hour trying to sleep. And when I just lay there and close my eyes, i do this thing where I feel like I'm in space. Like weightless. This happens anytime i close my eyes for a long period of time and I'm laying down. It's really neat. My arms feel like they are like 10 feet long and made out of rubber. And it's all in my mind, I don't move, but I can move myself in my head and get this trippy thing going on. Sometimes I can control my dreams to. In one dream when I was young I made a deal with god (this was a LONG time ago) to have some mutant/super powers, ( I was REALLY obsessed with the Xmen), but he said I could only use them for good. Now he didn't define good, so after a while he checked up on me and decided that I was using them for things beyond what he considered good. So he took my powers away. And then someone needed to be saved or something, I think a school was collapsing and i had to save someone inside. So i begged for my powers back, which he gave on the condition that i would only use them for what he considered good, I agreed and saved the person. Then some how i used my powers to defeat god. After that people would pray to me to fix their problems. Which i did at first. Then I stopped because I got sick of fixing everyones shit. And after awhile people just took care of things on their own. After that I woke up. I'm glad I'm not a mutant.

I really am one of the most lucky people. Brandy is such a wonderful partner. I love to hold her while she sleeps.

There is a sleeping cat on my lap.

There are no Atheists in foxholes [01 Apr 2007|03:32am]

I had a wonderful day.

Had some good food.

Bounced a flat baby.

Enjoyed the company of a friend.

Had a good time with my love.

Woke up way to late. Now I'm up way to late also.

Has anyone seen a film in which a person proclaims themselves some sort of God, and then someone kills them and says "I'm an Atheist"?
I want to see that.
